Hi everyone! Today is my last day in Costa Rica. I have been here for 8 weeks exactly. I know that doesn't sound like a long time and I can assure you it didn't feel like a long time! My official assignment here Costa Rica was to learn Spanish. And I think I did pretty well! Throughout the two months I've been here, I've taken 120 hours of one-on-one, intensive Spanish classes. 3 hours a day every weekday. And I never got tired of it! My amazing teachers always found new ways to keep me moving and they were always cheering me on! I so so appreciate them. Outside of learning Spanish, I have also been doing cultural studies. I visited four churches and befriended. Many of the ministry leaders. And youth group was especially interesting to me, as it was much more my speed here. In the Latin Americas, you don't leave the youth group at age 18. You can leave whenever you want (really when you get married). So many of the youth group attendees were in their '20s. A much more mature environment. I also met this very impressive woman. Her name is Carol Rittenhouse and she is an ordained pastor for the Church of the Nazarene. She has gone through many, many hours of our Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City. Me and her have had countless conversations of God and His doings throughout the Bible, and I have enjoyed it so much. She has grown to be a mentor of mine. While taking classes here in Costa Rica, I really didn't have too much time to spend with the friends I've made and to even go out with San Jose. But fortunately on Saturday, I got to go to the La Paz waterfall gardens. It was truly an amazing experience. The beauty of the countryside is so surreal, you feel like you're in a movie! I ventured as a tourist alone, but I had a trusty tour guide with me. Though I love Costa Rica, I do feel ready to move on to the Dominican Republic. I have the same feeling I had before I went on this trip- pure excitedness. And I know that is only from God. I'm so blessed with the opportunities He has given me. I'm ready to be His servant!
